Access to clean water

Access to clean water is one of the most fundamental elements of the Read Horn of Africa Mission.

Water is an essential part of human life, one East Africa is currently lacking in.  Currently, over 79 million people living in the region don’t have access to clean water.

In Somalia, more than 70 percent lack access to clean water. In addition to being essential to human life, lack of access to water is also an economic issue in the Horn of Africa where the majority of people live an agricultural or pastoral lifestyle.

Sanitation, and preventing the frequent outbreak of diseases such as cholera are all directly related to lack of access to clean water.

Read Horn of Africa works with local communities in the construction of wells, especially in rural areas where water access is scarce.
